There has been so many lies told to women about our bodies and what it’s able to do. Unfortunately, these things have been told to us about by mostly men. People who could have no idea what it would be like in our bodies. Part of the reason why so many moms have postpartum depression is a lack of support. Not just support for mom, but support for the spouse. Not everyone has a mom, grandma, mother-in-law, or sister to lean on during these times. So couples are just alone, and in many cases there is just one parent. This is where a postpartum doula can come in. Bringing in someone who can come to organize and normalize things for you can be all the difference between a mental breakdown and an emotional breakthrough.
